Taylar and Morgan had their Christmas piano recital the other day. It is something that the kids work very hard to prepare for, except Morgan! She fights me every monday when she has piano lessons and when I ask her to practice during the week! Its a never ending battle. So this year Morgan was not going to memorize her piano piece basically because she had not practiced enough to know it. The day before the recital Morgan decided she would try and memorize her song like Taylar had done weeks ago! She stumbled a little but did it. So come the night of the dreaded performance she was a nervous wreck! As we are listening to the other kids play Morgan who is sitting behind me with Taylar and a friend, taps me on the shoulder and tears in her eyes says, "Mom I can't do this, what if I mess up?" I tried to comfort her and tell her that no one will notice and to do the best you can. She wiped the tears with the palms of her hands and sucked up as much courage as possible and headed up to the piano. She did great, I don't know if she even messed up or not. But what was more important was that she followed through and finished! That to me is more important than playing a perfect piece. Taylar also played her song great. (It was hard to get a good picture with her hair in the way, but she looked beautiful!) They both did such a good job and I am proud of them!
